Caudate nucleus
A major gray matter component of the basal ganglia located deep in the frontal lobe, just medial to the internal capsule and the putamen. Together with other structures in the basal ganglia, the caudate nucleus is involved in regulating the expression of certain bodily movements, affective behavior and cognitive processes by integrating widespread inputs from the cerebral cortex and modulating the activity of relevant thalamic relay nuclei.
