Caudal medulla
Caudal division of the medulla oblongata containing (among other structures) the decussation of the medullary pyramids, the dorsal column nuclei, and visceral motor centers in the reticular formation.

lower part of brainstem
Function:
contains important sensory and motor pathways and autonomic neural centers
