Abducens nucleus
Somatic motor cranial nerve nucleus located in the dorsal aspect of the caudal pons; this nucleus contains the motor neurons that innervate the lateral rectus muscle via the abducens nerve (cranial nerve VI). The action of the lateral rectus abducts the eye.
